Connecting Wwise and REAPER with WAAPI Transfer

A guest post for the Audiokinetic blog covering WAAPI Transfer, KarlTechno's REAPER extension for exporting audio straight into a Wwise project.

I wrote an article for the Audiokinetic blog that explains in detail how to use WAAPI Transfer, a REAPER plugin by KarlTechno that gives you a fast, direct pipeline from REAPER into Wwise.

WAAPI Transfer is an open-source REAPER extension built to bring REAPER closer to the kind of workflow Nuendo users get from the Game Audio Connect plugin. It works by reading everything queued up in REAPER’s render queue — so whatever you’ve set up to render, whether that’s individual items, regions, stems, or a full master mix, WAAPI Transfer can pick it up and send it straight into your Wwise project without a manual import step in between.

To use it you’ll need a version of Wwise that supports WAAPI, which means 2017.1 or later, and it’s worth noting that WAAPI Transfer is Windows-only.

I hope you’ll find it useful. For the full detailed walkthrough of setup and usage, head to the guest post on the Audiokinetic blog: Connecting Wwise and REAPER: Part 1 - WAAPI Transfer.

WAAPI Transfer itself is open source and available on GitHub.

This was the first part of a series on connecting REAPER and Wwise. Part two covers ReaOpen, a tool for jumping from a Wwise asset straight back to its source REAPER project.
